Flamenco museum in Seville

The Museo del Baile Flamenco, or Flamenco Dance Museum, is located in Seville in the Santa Cruz district. Founded by the famous flamenco dancer Cristina Hoyos, it invites you to discover the spirit of this typically Andalusian dance. This place is a museum, a performance hall and a dance school dedicated to flamenco. Museo del Baile Flamenco is the perfect place to immerse yourself in this art that conveys intense emotions and energy.

If you want to learn more about Andalusian culture and have a good time during your trip to Seville, don’t miss the visit of the flamenco museum!

The flamenco museum

Opened in 2006 in a house dating from the 17th century, the museum offers a unique experience thanks to interactive exhibitions.

You will learn more about the history of Flamenco, its influences and its evolution until becoming a world renowned dance. Ancient costumes as well as paintings, sculptures, videos and musical extracts provide a better understanding of the bases and origins of this dance.

The different styles of flamenco are also discussed: alegria, buleria, fadango and siguiriya will soon have no secrets for you. The museum uses multimedia and mixes media so that the visit remains fun and dynamic.

You can even participate in a workshop to take your first steps in the world of flamenco!

The flamenco show

After visiting the museum, you can watch an hour-long show in the “flamenco patio”. It is also accessible independently of the museum, if you only want to see the show. For me, this show is clearly the highlight of the visit. I advise you to take the combined tickets, or at least go see the show if you have little time in front of you and can’t visit the museum.

It lasts 1 hour and the artists (singers, dancers and guitarist) change every day. Depending on the troop present on the day of your visit, you won’t see the same style of flamenco. It is a quality and truly authentic show, performed by professional dancers. It is very addictive and I can only recommend you to go see it, it is totally worth the trip!
